Trench Shoring - Linear Shoring

DRAINAGE - ALL REQUIREMENTS MASTERED.

DRAINAGE - ALL REQUIREMENTS MASTERED.

The drainage system on the A7 in the direction of Flensburg had to be renewed over a length of almost 2 kilometers. Drainage pipes along the unusually low-lying roadway had started to leak, and drainage pipes had become clogged. As a result, the subsoil had been washed out and bumps had formed in the road surface, posing a particular danger to heavy goods traffic.

The Schleswig-Holstein State Office for Road Construction and Transport therefore decided to rehabilitate the lines. The invitation to tender placed a number of special demands on the shoring, which had to meet very high static requirements. To secure the excavation pit, Groth & Co., which had been commissioned to carry out the work, therefore relied on the stepped linear shoring system from E+S, a product brand of terra infrastructure. A particularly stable shoring system was required.

The friction-locked system proved to be a good choice, especially with regard to securing the excavation pit in the area of a bridge abutment. During the construction phase in question, the entire load transfer took place via the shoring.

Exceptional stability required: In the area of the bridge abutments, the shoring had to absorb the complete load transfer.

Among other things, the invitation to tender called for force-locking - important because a shallow-founded bridge structure was located in the area of the construction project. With linear shoring from E+S, the shoring panels are not threaded into the shoring soldier from above but swiveled in laterally - this was a decisive advantage for securing the excavation pit in the bridge area.

Compared with other systems, this procedure is not only faster but also less dangerous. For the laying of the pipes, a 3 meter wide and 7 meter deep pit had to be secured. On the "free section", modules of 4 meters in length were used. In the area of the bridge, the distance between the shoring soldiers was reduced somewhat for structural reasons. Here, module lengths of 3 meters were used.

The shoring system mastered the requirements of the highway construction site in Schleswig-Holstein with flying colors, and everyone involved was satisfied with the progress of the work, which was completed on schedule.
