Extension of the protective mole and the boathouse
PILING OPERATIONS AT THE SCHWERIN WATER POLICE
On the grounds of the Schwerin Water Police Station on the western shore of Lake Schwerin on the Schwanenhalbinsel, extensive construction work was carried out to extend the protective mole.

On the grounds of the Schwerin water police station on the western shore of Lake Schwerin on the Schwanenhalbinsel, extensive construction work was carried out to extend the protective mole, extend the boat hall to create a berth, construct an emergency generator and make the existing slipway safe for traffic.

The boat house of the Schwerin water police is located on a raised headland surrounded by sheet pile walls on Schwerin Inner Lake, near the Schwerin residential area of ‘Waisengärten’. It is deeply founded on sheet pile walls and piles made of sheet piles. The extension of the boathouse also required a deep foundation made of steel piles, which were made from two sheet piles tkL 603. The deep foundation is made with four pile elements and piles of 11.50 m in length.

The extension of the existing breakwater was carried out in particular to calm the waves in the access area to the water police boathouse. This breakwater comprises anchored sheet pile walls. The existing harbour breakwater made of Larssen sheet piles was extended by approx. 15 metres in a southerly direction to minimise wave action in the harbour basin and to facilitate access to the boathouse. The sheet piles for the extension of the breakwater, the deep foundations for the extension of the boathouse and the mooring piles were driven mainly from floating equipment.

Our customer, the diving company Babbel GmbH, purchased the profiles, construction material and machinery from thyssenkrupp Infrastructure. Here we were able to demonstrate our expertise as a system provider and offer the customer the required products from a single source. Installation took place in October 2020.
