REHABILITATION OF THE DIKE IN MICHEALAU
Flood protection systems in the town of Michelau are to be updated to the latest technical standards. The aim is to ensure protection against the kind of flooding that statistically occurs once every 100 years.
We supplied the material for the second phase of the construction of the protective measure: this involved 675 tonnes of sealed steel sheet pile profiles tkL 603 DB with a length of mostly four metres. The approximately 1,250 piles had to be processed exactly on the specified date. Since it is very difficult to deliver such large quantities exactly on the specified date, about one third of the total quantity was provided as used material. In this way, delays in rolling could be compensated for by a combination of used and new planks.
Overall, a high-water line of about 1,500 metres was created. The construction company in charge covered the above-ground part with a lattice wall containing a filling of limestones.
