FLOOD PROTECTION SYSTEM DRESDEN-GOHLIS
The Dresden district of Gohlis was completely flooded by the Elbe in 2002 and 2013. To provide long-term protection for the district, we built a complete flood protection system that also ensures access to the Elbe meadows in front of the district.
Sheet piles with a pile cap foundation were used to support a solid wall made of concrete and stone, which is partially equipped with 200 x 100 mobile terra stop logs. These have to withstand very high impact loads – up to 50 kilonewtons on an area of 50 x 50 centimetres. Crossing points and passages were fitted with double mobile caps in accordance with DIN 19712.
The protective wall is about 880 metres in length, and the protective heights are 2 metres and 0.60 metres. We have designed special pallets for mounting the mobile flood protection system, which can be loaded and unloaded using a forklift truck, wheel loader or mobile crane.
