NEW BANK FOR THE LOGPORT II IN THE PORT OF DUISBURG
Due to the growing demand in the logistics industry, Duisport GmbH decided to establish a new logistics centre in the Port of Duisburg – logport II. As part of this project, a new 360-metre-long embankment had to be built. It was executed in a combination of single-anchored sheet pile wall and a double-anchored steel wall founded on large diameter bored piles.

In order to be able to absorb the large bending moments determined by the static calculations, we had to reinforce the sheet pile wall material with lamellae in the field moment area. Subsequently, anchor plates were welded into the sheet pile wall valleys to absorb the anchor forces.

The pile driving operations were carried out using a combination of vibration and impact technology. Thanks to precise pile-driving guides, the LARSSEN wall was constructed with such dimensional accuracy that over a wall length of 360 metres, there was only a 25-centimetre deviation in the direction of the wall axis. This is due to the high pile-driving rigidity of the planks and the low delivery tolerances of the Double U sections of the LARSSEN profile series.

The 24-metre-long terra micropiles for the back-anchoring of the bank wall were manufactured parallel to the driving operations. The high level of driving precision allowed the theoretical anchor spacings to be adhered to exactly. This was important because between the anchors, bored piles with a diameter of 1.50 metres and a length of 20 metres had to be constructed behind the sheet pile wall. A reinforced concrete wall one metre thick and eight metres high was erected on top of these piles over a length of 310 metres and secured with terra micropiles and a dead man's anchor construction.
