PLASTIC SITE ROAD IN TÜBINGEN

Categorie: References

Perfect protection for sensitive construction sites.
From 2023, the gynaecological clinic of the University Hospital of Tübingen is to receive a new mounting for prenatal and fertility outpatient clinics as well as two nursing wards. In order to be able to increase bed capacities in advance, ten bed modules for approx. 20 beds were already set up in June 2020. The company used the plastic site road from terra infrastructure GmbH for the protection of the clinic premises, which are largely under monumental protection. The advantages of the site road elements were demonstrated both at the delivery of the modules with heavy-duty transporters and at the positioning of the mobile crane required for their installation. These include not only a low weight combined with a high load, but also low transport and processing costs. The construction partners were unanimous in their conclusion at the end of the work, which was completed to the satisfaction of the client within a week: the use of the mobile construction road made a significant contribution to the optimal protection of the paved access to the installation site and the surrounding parking and meadow areas.

All requirements met

At the plastic elements are real lightweights. For the delivery and removal, no special vehicles are needed. A single truck can transport up to 75 plates depending on size – the transport costs are correspondingly low. The elements are comprised of polyethylene, have the dimensions 3,000 mm x 2,400 mm x 45.5 mm and can be laid without prior earthworks to a large extent. Despite their relatively low weight of around 280 kg per plate, the load is approx. 160 t/m2, depending on the subsoil. What's more, the elements are quick and easy to lay and ensure optimal load distribution. This contributes to economical processes on the site. On a Tuesday, the road elements were delivered to the clinic grounds and laid by a truck with a loading crane and a large forklift. After the paved access road and the meadow areas, as well as the set-up area for the mobile crane, had been laid out accordingly, the ten modules that had been ordered were transported to Tübingen and placed on the previously constructed individual foundations with steel lattice girders by the mobile crane and connected to each other.

The precision work was completed in just a few hours. The next day, the construction road elements could already be removed, and no damage to the ground could be seen after the distance of the plastic plates. After the outside covers of the modules and the installation of the remaining medical technology, the station was able to go into operation on schedule in September 2020.
