NEW EMBANKMENT FOR LOGPORT II IN DUISBURG

NEW EMBANKMENT FOR LOGPORT II IN THE PORT OF DUISBURG.

Due to the growing needs of the logistics sector, Duisport GmbH decided to establish a new logistics center in the Port of Duisburg - logport II. As part of this measure, a new embankment had to be built over a length of 360 meters. It was built as a combination of a single tie-back sheet pile wall and a double tie-back steel wall founded on large bored piles.

In order to be able to absorb the large bending moments determined from the structural analysis, we had to reinforce the sheet pile material with lamellas in the field moment area. Anchor plates were then welded into the sheet pile valleys to absorb the anchor forces.

The driving work was carried out using a combination of vibratory and impact driving techniques. Thanks to precise driving guides, the LARSSEN wall was built up so true to size that there was only 25 centimeters of pitting in the direction of the wall axis over a wall length of 360 meters. This was due to the high pile-driving stiffness of the planks and the low delivery tolerances of double U-sections of the LARSSEN section series.

Parallel to the pile driving work, the 24-meter long terra micropiles for tie-back anchoring of the seawall were constructed. Due to the high pile driving accuracy, the theoretical anchor spacing could be exactly maintained. This was important because bored piles with a diameter of 1.50 meters had to be constructed in lengths of 20 meters behind the sheet pile wall between the anchors. On top of these piles, a one-meter-thick and eight-meter-high reinforced concrete wall was erected over a length of 310 meters and secured with terra micropiles and a deadman anchor construction.
