DIKE RETROFITTING IN MICHEALAU
In the municipality of Michelau, the existing flood protection was to be upgraded to the state of the art. The aim was to provide protection against floods that statistically occur once every 100 years.
We supplied the material for the second construction phase of the protection measure: This involved 675 tons of sealed steel sheet pile profiles tk L 603 DB, most of them four meters long. The approximately 1,250 planks had to be processed exactly on the specified date. As it is very difficult to deliver such large quantities on the exact day, around one third of the total quantity was made available as used material. In this way, delays in rolling could be compensated by a combination of used and new screeds.
In total, a flood line of about 1,500 meters was created. The above-ground part was clad by the executing contractor with a lattice wall containing a filling of limestones.
